Yes, the beer of course was cold. But the beer at A&M pizza is cold too. For what it's worth, I'd keep on driving if your in search of a good meal, and a cold beer.....for a fair price.

Adding another star to The Buck Hotel (Jonestown) review. Was there on St. Patty's night for dinner, excellent wings and a good side salad, a steak ordered at the table was good and done right, fish sandwich and crab cakes were also excellent. Entertainment was Dave Heilman, if you have never seen him, he was excellent. One of the best "one man band style" entertainers around. You can catch him at a few local pubs in the area. Kris the owner of the Buck is one of the hardest working people you will ever find and service is always good. The best thing is the place won't brake you, expect four people to eat wings and sandwiches and a few beers for under $50 for the whole table. If you are in the area give it a try and tell Kris Bob from Lebanon Valley Cycles sent you.

New breakfast stop this past Sunday morning took us to Deb's Restaurant a few miles east of Pine Grove on Rte 443. I was told they were noted for their breakfasts and they lived up to the report. The place is brand new inside and very nice, however it is also small so you may have to wait. Fortunatley even though the place was busy they found room for 7 of us. The wait for our food was also on the edge of being to long but the wait was well worth it. I was told by the owner that everything is made fresh, there is no frozen hash browns or home fries. Deb the owner spends all her time in the kitchen with her husband as the only cooks. The food was very good and very plentiful, I had a mushroom omlet that was huge and very good. I saw other plates with food heaped on them, and there were no complaints from our group. I give it a 4 1/2 only deducting a 1/2 point for wait time and size of the place, but it is very definetly on our elite breakfast list. Right up there with #1 Red Lion and #2 Silk City Diner. If you are looking for something new give it a try.

Pa's Place

What a dissapointment! Tried the "wings" on special, tuesdays. Well, first off....it took about 30 min. to get our food and when it was served it was terrible! The chicken was pink in the middle and drowned in "hot sauce". My wife ordered a chicken cheese steak and it was served without any cheese! Ok, maybe it was an off night or whatever. Decided to go back on a Thursday for a beer or two....def. not again for dinner. Get this...we asked to start a tab and the waitress replied "well, we don't usually do that". Ha ha, WHAT....I can't run a beer tab? Well after I complained about the food and now the service, the owner (Dean) gave me the go ahed to start a beer tab....so long as I didn't tell anyone because they don't normaly do that.

Well needless to say, I paid my bill and left the place. What a joke! The place has nothing going for it.

In a nut-shell the food is terrible and the joint is poorly managed....don't waste your time....drive the extra 1/8 mile and land at the Buck Hotel for a good meal, at a great price.

Yours truly

Batdorf's in Annville was our weekend stop. Nice place, great atmosphere, lousy soup, warm beer. The beer was perhaps just loaded into the cooler and not rotated, stuff happens (although I am a bit anal about the temperature of my beer) Myself and two others at our table tried the seafood chowder which came out tasting like hot water and flour, while both other guys reached for the salt shaker I sent mine back and told the waitress to make sure the cook tastes his own soup. I tried a grilled chicken sandwich with chilpolte sauce and it was good as was the other sandwiches that were served at our table. The place does not have wings on the menu and all the prices were a little steep. I really wanted to like this place, however we will give it only 2 1/2 stars, mostly on atmosphere and the entertainment which turned out to be Dave Heilman.

Wednesday, I was out running around getting some errands done with my mom along, and stopped by the Crossroads resteraunt. I wasnt on my bike, but was dressed like I was. (minus the jacket) We were treated nicely, seated promptly, and waited on timely.

I ordered broiled beef liver and onions with mashed potatos and corn, and a salad. My mom ordered chicken over filling with corn and some other vegitible, and had a salad also.

The food was served in a timely fashon, everything was hot and I was impressed with everything. My mom said her chicken was very good. Both her and I took home some that we could not finish, as the portions were very generous.

They also have Whoopie Pies! what a bonus! heh heh.....

The cost of the meal was standard and within a fair amount. Just under $20 for the both of us.

For a quick stop on a morning ride from the shop, I would say this place would be ok. I do not know about their breakfast fare, but lunch was very good.

Peace

Haven't done this in a while but here goes. Justine's in Lebanon on North 7th St. (Sunset) has become a favorite. Great food, wings and buffalo chicken quesadillas are outstanding. Service is excellent, and price, how about quessadillas and a few beers for about $10. Friday night karaoke gets a little crowded but normally the place is not real full, but it should be. Also heard that during football season they open Sundays and it can get full. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

OK, I guess a Gold Winger has to jump in here with the GOOD places to eat.

Just off of Interstate on 272 is Silk City (everyone's heard of it, rigth? The Happy Pappies meet there on Tuesday mornings.) Well I'm going to tell you about Johnny's just underneath Silk City.

Johnny's is ABSOLUTELY the best steak and seafood restaurant in Central Pa. bar non. I had steak and two lobster tails for $33, with streak and crab cake (theirs is the best outside of Maryland!!!) for $30. So not our of line but by far the best you will taste in Pa. Try it - no reservations though so go early.

Now let's get down to bussiness. In Lancaster:

Tobias Froggs on 462 in so. Lancaster. Great food in a 1700's house.

El Sorento's on 462 in so. Lancaster - best mexican in Central Pa.

Cat's Meow in Manheim - arrive around 4 PM and enjoy their specials. But always great food.

One of my favorites - Tony's Mining Co in Cornwall, pricey but excellent food.

Burgers - Red Robin Gourmet Burgers in Hershey.

I've got top stop and go get something to eat!! :)
